I am a skilled costume maker and tailor with experience in bridal wear, bespoke tailoring and alterations. I am currently in my final year of study for BA Costume and Performance Design where I have developed my knowledge and understanding of both Bespoke and Theatrical Tailoring, gaining skills in pattern drafting, fitting etiquette, as well as strong hand and machine sewing skills.

My time at university allowed me to expand my knowledge of historical costume and apply this to practical making skills in both costume and tailoring. Through independent research I have developed my understanding of pattern drafting and construction. Alteration Assistant 2015 

As an Alteration Assistant my responsibilities included assisting during fittings with clients, completing alterations on bridal wear, beading and fine detailed work, as well as ensuring a hospitable and clean environment for clients on the shop floor. 

 

T&J Hooley  

Shop Floor/Alteration Assistant 2016-2017 

At T&J Hooley I worked closely with the tailor, expanding my knowledge of alterations as well as learning new skills in millinery. I also gained knowledge in industrial sewing machines and their maintenance. Through experience in client consultations I gained skilled in communication a customer service, as well as expanding my knowledge of the bespoke process and my understanding of fit.

As the Costume Designer for a short film I had the responsibilities of budgeting, sourcing and altering a range of costumes for 3 cast members. I developed my communication skills through working with a large crew, following tight schedules and adhering to small budgets. 

 

Vinyl Dreams   

Costume Supervisor 2019 

As a Costume Supervisor, I worked as part of a production team to produce a set and costumes that complimented the script and directors’ vision. I also developed my creative problem-solving skills when ensuring shoots would run smoothly, managing costume changes as well as tracking continuity.   

 

Interests

 

I enjoy being creative in my spare time, often experimenting when cutting on the stand to create modern garments inspired by historical influences that I sell online. I also enjoy music, regularly attending concerts and theatre shows as well as playing piano and singing in local choirs. I enjoy travelling as I love experiencing other cultures through visiting museums and historical landmarks.
